Training Volunteers
January 20, 2012
In the last several weeks I’ve spoken with many people who have reiterated to me, over and over again, the need for more training. The training of volunteers in any organization is one of the key elements to seeing growth and health. Every leader needs to see that this is a priority in his/her organization. When volunteers are adequately equipped and trained for their responsibilities, they will be much more effective and successful in their work.
Training needs to be a vital part of strategic planning and budgetary planning. Too many volunteers either burn out, lose interest, or become discouraged in their work because of lack of training. If you are a leader, you must make sure that the people who come to you to volunteer their time and talents, are adequately trained for their job so they they can be effective in their work. Quality training will include the proper resources, equipment, and personnel to see that volunteers are properly equipped for their work. You will find much more enthusiasm and success in your organization if you see that quality training is provided on a regular basis for your volunteers. What a joy it will be to see people really enjoying their work and excited about their role in your company.
Providing quality training for your volunteers will be one of the greatest investments you can make in the lives of the people who work for you!
